God is moving in Longview. Dean and I met with 2 local pastors for lunch yesterday. It was so encouraging to hear about the spiritual heritage of Longview. This city was actually founded by a Christian Businessman (R.A. Long) in the 1920's. His vision was to create a city that would honor God. He actually had Billy Sunday (go to: http://www.billysunday.org/ ) come for the dedication of the city.
His dream of a city after God's heart did not last. And after years and years of turning their backs on God, the city is coming around. About 20 years ago, under the guidance and inspiration of Multnomah Bible College's president, Joe Aldrich, several pastors from different churches in Longview, came together to pray for the unification of the Church. Since then, prayer walks have been conducted in crime infested neighborhoods in Kelso, weekly prayer meetings have taken place and an annual Prayer Summit has been held.
God is moving in Longview. We are truly privileged to be a part. Let's be on our knees, praying for God's direction and favor with the people of LV. Let's pray for the continued efforts of godly men and women who have been laboring in this community for decades. Let’s pray for humility as we serve. Let's pray for power as we preach the Gospel of salvation and freedom!
